Just came across this tweet:
So we're all teddy bears then!
Is anyone else arriving on the Thursday?

Yes if I was a teddy bear I might well stay at a Travelodge. But I'm a human so I'll probably go for the Marriott.
So we're all teddy bears then!

Anyone know whether the team has been announced yet? I think Leon is going to have problems deciding who to put in the doubles given the various performances this week.

According to the Davis Cup website the teams are due to be announced on Tuesday 6th September (10 days ahead of the tie starting) and after Round 4 of the USO!!!
Agree with you regarding Leon and the difficulty of choosing his doubles team.
Back in July Ross was only just back from several weeks injury time out and had dropped in the rankings. So, that potentially left Colin and Jamie playing as the doubles team. After Andy had said he wanted to play doubles and Colin got injured the obvious combination was Jamie and Andy.
Jamie is ranked #41 right now. Colin and Ross are 54 and 59 respectively but will pick up good points in the US Open and will rise up the rankings. However, Colin is 462 pints behind Jamie (Ross 651 behind) so they might not overtake him unless they get into the Semi's this week.
Fact is they're working well as a team which, sadly for Jamie, might mean they're the best option rather than one of them teaming up with him.

Davis Cup At Braehead
I suppose it was pretty much inevitable this would be the team, though pity Jamie not included of course.

Maybe he'll be in as a reserve. I'm sure he'll be there to support.

I think we have an excellent team there! Never heard of any of the Hungarians.

Do we know when tickets are due to be posted out?
Glad the Fabulous Baker Boy been called up as a reserve - he's had a really good last month or so.
Sad Jamie didn't get called up, but only really going to be in the team if he was going to be playing with Andy - otherwise doesn't really make sense to call on Colin and Ross.

Just hope that Andy will have time to get there. If he is in the final at the US Open, as we all hope he will be, it's unlikely it will be played before Monday at the earliest. That doesn't give him much time to get back to Braehead.

I was thinking that last night. How long can the USOpen go on for? Andy, Nole and Rafa are all supposed to be playing Davis Cup next weekend.

Federer is playing as well and he has to get to Australia - although I don't think the World Group are playing until the following weekend.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the World Group playoffs, I was just thinking of the semifinals. All the Davis Cup ties are the same weekend, 16th-18th.

Well, it's only a 7hr flight to Manchester so I'm sure he'll get back in time. Only problem is jet-lag after return journey. Could be tight though if he only arrives UK Wednesday. Oh dear, I'm worrying myself now....Alis wrote:lankster2003 wrote:Do we know when tickets are due to be posted out?

I jut hope & pray he is there or my 6 hour drive is going to seem much longer........
I had accepted that he might not be there but now he has been named in the team, it's like he has got to be there lol!
But would trade for a US open victory... only just..... lol!

There is a chance I could now make the DC next weekend .... I know it's a long shot, but would there be any chance of getting tickets at this very short notice??? If it then turns out that I can't go I would just bear the cost unless someone wanted tickets at ven shorted notice!!

Would be great if you could come! On Ticketmaster they still have tickets for Friday and Saturday but not Sunday (strange, as Sunday is likely to be dead rubbers).

I would be coming on my own so would only want to come if I was sitting with you guys. Have texted Sally but haven't heard anything back as yet. I know it's unlikely but thought it was worth a try!
