Brilliant Andy, well done! Very straightforward today, Lopez just could never hurt him consistently even if the 2nd was closer.

Yes, you are right.JAMES4578 wrote:Brilliant Andy, well done! Very straightforward today, Lopez just could never hurt him consistently even if the 2nd was closer.
The only danger tonight was that Andy would lose his focus and suddenly find himself one set all or playing an unnecessary fourth set. Good to get off court in two hours, or just under perhaps.
Donald Young next, isn't it?
Interesting that apart from Simon needing four to dispatch del Potro (thank goodness, he is always a bad match up for Andy even if he is not at his best level this year) all the other men's matches were won in straights today.

Yes!
Exactly the news I was hoping to wake up to. Highlights should be on Eurosport at 2pm when I get back.

Thanks
So pleased to read the news this morning - I knew he'd win fairly comfortably, but that was more comfortable than I expected!!!
Well done Andy

Nightmare - just at the beginning of the second set my sky box went into standby mode and the remote control wouldn't work - had to wake my decidedly unchuffed other half so that I could watch it in the bedroom with the sound turned down! I got up to walk the dog this morning - he's still pretending to be asleep after his 'broken night'. Thank heavens for retirement - could have led to divorce if we had had to get up to go to work this morning! Worth it though - well done Andy boy - onwards and upwards!

That was more like it - well worth staying up for! And I really like the black kit. Perhaps it's lucky. I wasn't so keen on the red.
Come on Andy - you can do it!

Well done Andy and you were considerate enough to do it in straight sets so I am semi awake for pilates this morning!! Other than for the humidity there was scarcely need to break sweat!

Well done Andy!
From what I hear a much easier match for those of you who stayed awake for it!

Well Done Andy. Great performance, 1st set was outstanding, then did what you had to do comfortably. Managed to watch the match in a very calm fashion and did not even need a wee dram.

Stayed up to watch the match and what a pleasure it was- it certainly was 'the real Andy Murray' out there and what a clinical performance it was - no pillows needed to hide behind - still had to get up at 6.00am to take the dog for walk but luckily i don't work anymore (done my time ) so having a quite day today catching up on the where necessary and feeling very very proud of 'OUR ANDY'

Yes, an extremely competent performance with minimum loss of stamina an no need to break out the A game.

Great match last night Andy, well worth being tired today I will have an early night tonight to catch up incase we have another late night tomorrow night! if its early tomorrow I will have to record it so I would prefer a late nighter. After the state of Rafa at his presser no wonder him and Fed are less tired and poor andy is normally stuck out in the mid day sun like a mad dog or Englishman
