Roddick again at night! Boring. Hope someone knocks him out soon. Andy always gets a crappy timeslot. But if the weather is rubbish then it'll help him that he's first.

    Nole won in straight sets.
Mardy Fish has taken the 2nd set on a tiebreak so its 1 set a piece.

    Allez Tsonga!!!

Both men have similar types of games so I can understand why it's so close. I think Fish has a bit more hunger in him today.

Fishy has a break in the 3rd set so JWT is serving to stay in it at *3-5.

This is Roger Federers 30th consecutive Grand Slam Quarter-Final.
    Quite a statistic!!!
It's Nole's 10th, dunno about Andy and Rafa

There is, according to this tweet from Dani, a 100% chance of rain all day in New York so play might be severely disrupted!!!
    Daniel Vallverdu
100% chance of rain all day? Weather forecasters feeling a bit too overconfident about their skills? yfrog.com/h8918syoj

Great stuff from Jo and sets up a quarter final against Federer. Can't believe that Mr Smug will be looking forward to that one!

Well, they both have today to recover but Fed won his late night match very easily whereas JWT had a 5set battle. It might even out after a day's rest but if their QF goes the distance tiredness might play a factor.

I really hope by that tonight the tournament is an American free zone. I think Ferrer would be a bigger threat to Rafa than Roddick in the quarters and I'd rather Andy played Simon than Isner. As for Young - well that goes without saying!!!!

Andy always plays well against Isner as he is not afriad of the big serve and deals well with them. Simon on the other hand is a trickier player, unpredictable at times. Young is again a big server and Andy was playing really badly last time they met. Not doing that now.

Well I don't really want to rain on your parade but aren't you a bit ahead of yourself. do you think Young is just going to roll over and hand our andy the match ? Especially he is full of confidence after beating Andy recently, granted Andy was in a dark place. I do hope Andy can finish it off in 3 and not let Young into the match and shut the partisans up. Weather is going to be a big factor today. sunny sunny

I just hope Andy comes out and plays confidently. I'm sure he can forget the loss and show this young man what he is capable of. First set is crucial, first serves are so important and mental strength paramount. Andy can do this, but that won't stop me being a nervous wreck. With just over an hour to go already feeling a little tense. Let's go Andy, let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers bounce

I wasn't suggesting for a minute that it would be a walkover - just that it goes without saying that I hope Andy beats Young and that I hope the other Americans are beaten too. We all know that nothing is a given in tennis.

Has there been any news anywhere of when they think play may start?

    edit. Found this - http://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/weather.html?promo=home

4.00 pm UK time - "The current forecast calls for showers to continue for the next few hours followed by a period of dryness, when we hope to begin match play."
