The Pod is a thing that he sits in that helps to oxygenate theblood. But apparently he did not use it this year. It was something he used a few times a year or so ago.

Here is an article I posted on the newspaper thread (but belongs here too) - about Nole's tactics in the wind. http://straightsets.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/13/a-keen-use-of-the-wind-aided-djokovic/

Interesting article some of the comments are funny though as if Nole was somehow doing
something wrong by using the wind. Rafa could've done the same thing, just shows how much is in the thinking as well as the skill.
Part of the match I saw was excellant had to give in after 3 sets (too many late nights)
and go to bed. Not surprised at the result
Thanks to both players for a great final.
Hope to see Andy doing that soon cheers

I've been on holiday so am a bit out of touch with the forum but I wondered if anyone had questioned just how Novak had managed to recover from 'only having one shot to compete with Andy' at Cincinatti to the form he showed at the US Open.
Can such a recovery be believable ?

I've always liked Novak, but I feel his actions this time are just a little questionable - or am I being unfair ?????

I agree with you there. I think that Novak knew exactly what he was doing at Cincinnati. He should be in line for an Oscar for his acting skills there. RAther unsportmanlike in my opinion. Twisted Evil

I agree with you Jeannie - it really annoys me when the pundits keep saying that Andy only won in Cinci because Novak retired. I also wonder about the timing of his medical time out last night - Rafa had regained the momentum and was about to serve. I may be drummed out of the club for saying so but it smacks of gamesmanship to me. Having said that - he's not the only one who does it!

Well - to be fair Rafa is a past master at the art but I do think that Novak has - up until now - displayed much more in the way of sportsmanship but I am disappointed.
He took away a bit of Andy's triumph in Cincinatti when he had just lost the first set (after playing pretty well and no sign of an injured arm) and certainly picked his moment to stop the roll of Rafa's improvement.

I do hope that this isn't going to be a pattern of the future

He does have a history of it in the past although he hasn't done it as much just recently - it earned him a very bad reputation with the other players.

My husband and I usually have a bet on when the Joker calls on the trainer. The best time is usually when the match starts to swing away from him. Didnt seem to be problem when he was two sets up.

I just said "Here we go again". Hate it when players display gamesmanship which in my language in unsporting behaviour bordering on cheating.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt but I do wonder why he didn't get the trainer out during the break after the third set. I think it ruined Rafa's momentum doing it just before he was to serve. But at the end of the day he was always going to win; he was always a notch up on Rafa, and has been for the entire year.

Not sure where to post really but I am back from New York and Florida. Had THE BEST time! Still really tired as we were so busy. Was such an amazing experience though will remember it forever.

The US Open was amazing, I loved it! We were lucky to pick first week as had the best weather although a little too hot to sit on court all day. We had Louis tickets for a day session but could have managed with ground passes, could not believe how accessible all the courts were. Saw Jankovic/Dokic, Monfils/Fererro, tracked down my Tommy at last! Tsonga and Nando. Could have seen even more but a hot and tiring day so had to get some rest. Also did an Arthur Ashe night session - court huge and mental! When we arrived Andy was still playing on Armstrong so watched the end on big screen and got v excited. Atmosphere was great on Ashe, lots of fun and music in the breaks. Think it definitely rivals Wimbledon, was a nice big site and everyone extremely welcoming. No stewards being strict! Does make me wonder why we can't do the same with buying tickets, get rid of the ballot and queues! Highly recommended.

Glad you had a fab time Wimbledon Ace! Think it'd be too hot for me though. Pity it not easier to get show court tickets at Wimbledon but think the demand is far higher. Of course for some it's not just a sporting event at SW19!

Great that you had such a good time there and I totally agree with you re: the way tickets are sold at Wimbly.

Thanks, just had a chance to look through all our photos. We have hundreds as packed a lot in while in New York. Feel so lucky that I got the chance to go. So happy that we got the good weather too as both times my fiance has been to Wimbledon it has rained badly so he thought he was jinxed!
