Q. Where do you play next?
HEATHER WATSON: Next in Québec.
Q. What's the plan after that?
HEATHER WATSON: After Québec, I'm going back to Europe. I'll be training at the NTC for a few weeks working on my fitness, and then I'll be playing Linz, Luxembourg, and all those.

Re: Heather Watson
I had a look for the transcript on the night of the match and thought they wouldn't post it. But they did, and Heather confirmed her next tournies:

Re: Heather Watson
Yes, sounds good. This is the kind of match she has to win now to consolidate her ranking. Hope she adjusts back to the "bread and butter" of the circuit after Sharapova and show court experience. Think Arvidsson has been having a much better year this year, though.Maza1987 wrote:Draw is out for Quebec $220k tourny.

Heather break again
4*-2
Commie says Kremer has won 52 points in the match, but has only won 4 games! Seems counterintuative.

Sounds like Heather won the important points then, which is a very good habit to acquire!Maza1987 wrote:Heather break again

I can only see the OOP for Monday, this is really annoying as I can't see when Hev's playing. Has anyone got more info?

R2: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 107 v ARVIDSSON, Sofia (SWE) 5 77
OOP for Wednesday not yet out. Definitely after 4pm though, Helen.
Arvidsson is an underrated player imo. But she can blow hot and cold, not inconceivable for an upset.

Re: Heather Watson
Heather won 7-5 6-3! Arvidsson was the 5th seed and ranked 77. She now plays Paszek, ranked 37, who I saw get a bagel against Heather at Estoril, and who has vicious ground strokes. Mind you, after USO, who knows! Another 40 points in the bag.Maza1987 wrote:According to Steven on twitter.

Re: Heather Watson
Indeed, a good win for Heather
R2: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 107 beat ARVIDSSON, Sofia (SWE) 5 77 7-5 6-3
QF: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 107 v PASZEK, Tamira (AUT) 3 40
She served 77% last night, with 6 aces.
Whilst clearly not a big server, she placed her first serves well. But only won 29% behind her second serve.
I look at Li Na and Sam Stosur as long term blueprints for her serve. They are, officially, only 2 cm's taller than Heather. However, their physique is considerably more muscular, whereas Heather is quite slight (to be expected for a 19yr old). So if Heather, like Andy always states in his pressers, gets stronger, that will go some way towards helping.
And a special mention again to her speed and agility as when she was bp down trying to serve for the match, she played a point where she was practically out of the rally for 7 shots or something but kept retrieving the ball and then found a moment to pounce herself. Well done.
Pasek got to Wimby quartes and is somewhat of a pocket rocket herself. She gets a whole day to recover, so fatigue should not be a problem. Would be superb if Heather could win--first ever wta tour semi.

Re: Heather Watson
Sorry about the mistake on the score - I took it from the draw sheet via the WTA main site. Paszek also has a very, very strange ball toss!Maza1987 wrote:Indeed, a good win for Heather

Let's hope Heather keeps that first serve percentage because her second serve was indeed murdered by Paszek last time they met!
Edit: Are you sure about the score? Heather's Facebook wall says:
"Had a late match last night but eventually won against Arvidsson 7-5, 6-3. So excited to be in my third WTA Quarterfinal of the year and my career! Day off from singles but have a doubles quarterfinal match this afternoon. Wish us luck"

Re: Heather Watson
Heather and partner, Kathrin Woerle, have won again to go through to the semis—beating 3rd seeds Kraijeck and Safarova. Next up, no.1 Seeds Kops and Spears.
Heather's singles match will be tomorrow but I'm working from 2-10 so unless it's a late night one I won't be able to watch.
Edit: Match start at 5pm GMT. D'oh!
