ESPN interviewed all three of the rebels, MAndy, RAndy & Rafa, and they all said the same thing about how bad it was that they were sent out to play in those conditions, and they've told the TD they won't be sent out in those conditions again. They were just discussing this in the studio on Sky Sports as well.

@nadalnews Nadal News
Rafa interview now. says players are not protected. Slams get a lot of money.
Rafa: They were put on court even knowing they'd have to come right off. Doesn't think it's fair to players or fans
Rafa: says only if players get together can they make change for the future.
Rafa: says he can say he won't go out if it's raining, but he wants to play, it's a pleasure to play,, but if has to play in rain, he has to
Rafa: it needs to be more than him saying they shouldn't play.
Now RAndy's turn: If it's up for discussion of the court's playable or not, that prob means it's not playable
RAndy: they wanted to make it known they didn't want to be put in that position again and all agree on it
RAndy: wanted to show it wasn't one person upset, all were; better if all say it. Understands TV pressure, etc, but....

The players really do deserve more consideration than they have been given here - I'm not surprised that they are upset and annoyed. Sending them out on courts that were still wet, especially when there was more rain forecast was not only inconsiderate but downright dangerous.

Good for them making a stand! Will it change anything - probably not but their views are important and their health and wellbeing should be top priority not audience numbers.

Maybe the players on the ATP Council should lobby for the USO to be non-compulsory until they take more account of players' welfare. (After all, some years ago the slams were not compulsory tournaments, I'm not sure when they became compulsory. That's why you never got the clay courters at Wimbly in the old days.)

Looks like they are going to try to dry the courts again (8 daleks out on Ashe). Although people still have their umbrellas up.

Perhaps the players should boycott USO next year - I;m sure they did one year at Wimbledon although I can't remember why.
Just heard they've called off the evening matches. Fed wins out again - hasn't actually had to make an appearance at the venue.

yeah, just heard that they've called off the QF matches. Got to get R4 done.
It was years ago that all the top players boycotted Wimbly - can't remember all the details now but I think it was to do with amateur/professional players (only amateur players used to be allowed to play Wimbly, once they went professional they couldn't play there any more).

The court is looking drier, one lady took down her umbrella but two others have just put their up, so who knows?
Daleks on court again!

The livestream I had, which was showing Grandstand, is now running an old Sampras/Agassi match. Anyone got a link for the grandstand court please?

I'm watching that stream too. I'm sure they'll go back when it's time. They are just filling in the rainbreak with this.
