Jamie Baker has reached a Challenger semi-final in Astana this week, the 5th Challenger SF of his career (W 1 L 3) but his first since 2007, before his illness, making this quite a big deal.

With Elena going out of Dallas WTA on Thursday and Jamie and Flembo losing their respective doubles semis at Winston Salem ATP last night, he is the last Scot stil lin a main draw this week - the last Brit, in fact.

He is playing top seed Rainer Schüttler (as in the former top 5 player, AO finalist and Wimbledon semi-finalist!) and after going down *0-3 early on, he broke the German as he served for the set and nearly broke him again for 6-5.

A really great week for the fabulous Baker boy. Really pushed Rainer yesterday and to make the semi's is a great effort. As he said on his tweet, about making it his average, rather than a peak.

Pity Jamie went out in the semis, but sure he can take confidence from his good run!
