Tennis For Free - a donation from the forum
Hi everyone
We wanted to update all of those who went to Davis Cup, at Braehead in July, and everyone else on the forum, with some great news regarding the charity Tennis For Free.
As you know this is a charity which the Murrays are very keen on and make time to support whenever they can. Judy is a patron of TFF and she went, along with Andy and Jamie, to help launch the regeneration of public courts in Paisley just before Davis Cup.
Some of you may have also seen that this is where they filmed Andy's part in the programme Tonight's the Night!!!
We had approached Judy ahead of the DC tie to ask about raising some money for charity, via a mini-raffle amongst our forum group, which included members from all over the UK who had taken the opportunity for a 'get-together' at Davis Cup. We have done this at previous DC's and raised £750 which was given to Make-A-Wish (Andy is an ambassador for them).
So, we were hoping to do the same again - and Judy was an absolute star in coming to our aid. She gave us the opportunity to buy some adidas Team Murray t-shirts and sweats and also handed over a Great Britain team top signed by Andy for us to raffle!!!
We're happy to report that we raised £600 out of all this and, following further discussions with Judy, have followed her suggestion that the money is sent to Tennis For Free. I've now made contact with them and, unless anyone objects, will send the cheque off on Monday - we'll keep you posted if we hear back.
On top of that Judy then made available, exclusively again to forum members, more of the Team Murray t's and sweats for you to buy. Those monies will also go to TFF although we're not sure how much it is because it has probably been added to the previous adidas kit and memorabilia sales which also raised money from the forum members.
The forum can be proud of its' efforts to help - so a big "THANK YOU" to you all.
