Haven't we been saying this for yonks?
This seems to happen quite frequently, and it's always Andy & Rafa who suffer whilst Fed benefits!

Exactly what happened in 2008 - Andy had to finish his semi against Rafa the day before playing the final while Federer had the day off to recover.

The ESPN guy is waiting in the tunnel to interview Rafa so he must be ready to come out.
Muller's already been interviewed. Chris Evert is annoyed with Rafa.
Rafa now in the tunnel and being interviewed apologising for the delay, saying it was the officials' fault.
Rafa, forget about your blasted routines and get GOING!!! Sheesh.
Rafa down 0-3 already. Looking miserable out there, poor thing.

Wish Nadal would get some better fitting pants and stopdoing his little pulling/plucking thing, never realised how irritating and quite gross it looks!
I am hoping Muller will continue to play this way and beat him! Go Muller with your funky retro headband!

Apparently Rafa, Andy & Roddick all just went to the referee's office together to complain that they were put on court when it was still wet & mistly.

Rafa said something about it always being about the money they r really ticked off apparently , well , good for them , power in numbers , the players should have a say , this whole thing is ridiculous . Its gonna be next week before its finished.

US Open statement: "Play is suspended due to the current weather conditions. The weather forecast calls for intermittent showers for the next 15-30 minutes, after which there should be a clearing when we expect to resume match play."

longer rain persists the more ludicrous it appears to have brought players out for 3 games... Rumours circulating behind the scenes...
@5livetennis 5livetennis
... Rumours about player unrest, particularly just as they were being called at around midday. Nadal particularly vocal, caused a delay

Becoming increasingly clear that the players did not want to play when they were called to the courts at 12.01. Bad feeling here...
@5livetennis 5livetennis
Roddick, Nadal and Murray have been into the referee office to voice their displeasure. Quite a political power...

Yes, I've just been posting excerpts from ESPN (which were tweeted, I can't watch ESPN) interviews with the players on the match thread. They were also discussing it in the studio on Sky Sports. Seems the TD has a player revolution on his hands!

I think they should start the matches from scratch if that's the case.

I don't think Muller would be very happy with that!

No, but it would be fair if what Andy is saying about the balls being wet, etc.

yes, I was following the discussion on Sky and apparently the players have said they won't go out again in similar conditions, though they did feel their concerns were listened to. If only the tournament would insist in dragging out the first round over three days we maybe wouldn't be in a such a dire situation. Greg said the players should put a stop to Super Saturday and have the semis on the Friday like the other slams, wonder if things will ever change though.

Perhaps it would make the officials take notice if all the top players left the tournament - it's becoming a shambles. They won't do it of course but something has to be done to make them change things for the future. Certainly, they can't do anything about the weather but their strange scheduling makes this sort of scenario much more likely to happen. Does anyone know if they have to refund ticket holders money if play is cancelled for the day - could that be the reason for sending the players out in dangerous conditions?

Nadal happier now, he's on the table football versus Ferrer. Earlier, when called to court, he felt it was unsafe
